Designing ‘Grace’

Filed under: FOSS — strike @ 8:10 am

The new template for wordpress 2.0 is a pretty hack. Initially I decided to edit the wordpress classic theme to produce my own but later I realized that I should be better off designing a layout first and then fit things into it. Finally I designed a layout and got my own theme ready. Then hacked the wordpress classic theme to fit header, content, sidebar and footer into my theme. It is best viewed in 1024 x 768 pixel resolution or higher.
Progress so far

  • Added comment section to style.css so it shows my name and the name “Grace” on presentation screen
  • Edited template so that there are no slip off tags
  • Created layout from scratch
  • Added several new classes and IDs in stylesheet
  • Added hacks to prevent cripplled output in M$ IE (structure only)
  • Added hacks to keep footer at foot :)
  • So far tested on Netscape 8.0, Mozilla/5.0 Gecko/20041020 Firefox/0.10.1, M$ IE 6.0

ToDo

  1. Test things on different browsers
  2. Edit CSS to correct presentation in different browsers

That’s about it for now..:)
